THE COMPLETE DOLLAR

There is a very beautiful verse in ancient Indian literature, which means : "God is complete, this world is also complete. This complete world has emanated from that complete God. Though complete world has emanated from complete God yet God remains complete." Try to understand it this way. You have got 100 dollars, after spending 1 dollar you are left with 99 dollars. Spending more dollars shall leave you with lesser amount. This is the nature of material world. After spending or using the quantity of things decreases. Nature and capacity of God is always complete. Anything may come out of God, HE may show favors to all, yet HE never decreases and stays complete. The complete never increases or decreases. The one who has some deficiency left increases, the one who as acquired unwanted characteristics decreases; both these conditions are not applicable to God. Nothing is beyond Him, He is beyond change and is undiluted.

We know about the completeness of God, but how this world is complete? This world is full of deficiencies. Nobody is complete, everybody has shortcomings. But still this world is complete. Individuals are not complete in themselves, but the world as a whole is complete. 100 persons may have 100 skills, 1 person may not have 100 skills. Hence the collective nature of all life forms and substances represent completeness.

HURDLES TO COMPLETENESS

First of all thank God for the part of completeness in us. If you are an atheist then thank your assumptions of this world. A person may have number of skills and capacities but can't have all. Most of the times it is sufficient to utilize one's capacities in a good manner. Maximum self development and feeling bliss portray completeness. There are hurdles to complete feelings. These same hurdles restrict union with God also. These hurdles are called vikshepa. Union with oneself leads to union with God. For union look out for hurdles and weed them out. Hurdles are of nine types :

  1. Vyadhi or disease : Any type of physical or mental disturbance. If a disease disturbs the peace and tranquility in self then it's disturbing. Always remember a disease can either be cured or endured.
  2. Styan or unwillingness to work : When there is no wish to do anything. This can be caused by pessimism, previous failure or lack of initiative.
  3. Snshay or doubt : When there is less faith in one's own capacities and result of work its doubt.
  4. Pramad or carelessness : A lot of work is being done, have full faith in capacities, but never cares, this is pramad or carelessness.
  5. Aalsya or laziness : There are heavy feelings in body and senses and rest looks more attractive than test.
  6. Avirti or attachment : When senses get attached to things useful or harmful and feel bounded.
  7. Bhranti Darshan or Opposite Feelings : When normal positive things look negative.
  8. Alabdh Bhumiktav or Non-Achievement : When even after efforts something is not gained.
  9. Anvstithtatva or Instability : When even after achievement mind does not want to stay calm.

By taking away these nine hurdles a lot of desired can be achieved and a feeling of completeness can be gained.
